Our Nieuwpoort mooring...
...and the Sluis St Joris
Lynn had slipped on the step from the galley to the
saloon and had badly stubbed her toe in the process and by now it was a
swollen, inflamed mess – together with her sore knee she was not feeling so
good so I left her to lie in while I took the bike into Nieuwpoot town center...
...and then, following Ms Garmin, took an extremely
convoluted route to the beachfront and harbour exit
Later, we took the bikes back to town for some re-provisioning,
back to Elle for lunch and then a trip to the nearby cemetery where we found
Cullen and Carter gravestones as well as one bearing the South African Infantry
badge, in memory of one Corporal Corbett.
The first Cullen entry was a bit eerie - my first rank on being called up was Gunner and my first civilian force regiment was the Cape Garrison Artillery. My uncle's mane was also James.
We had been invited to Njord for supper which was Pork
Vandaloo and most thoroughly enjoyed
indeed. A good day ended with a lovely sunset.
