Friday 8 & Saturday 9 May 2014
Just relaxed in general but managed to overcome two
obstacles viz;
-
Have tentatively arranged a year’s membership of
the Kuurnse Watersportvereeniging so that we can leave our boat there for June
to September.
Our new clubhouse. |
Admired some statuary...
...and another marvelous cyclists bridge...
...had a sandwich at a corner cafe while Lynn made a penguin out of the drinks coaster...
...and I watched the ships go by (sorry, video clip too big to upload until I find an editor).
-
Managed to survive a Frederik and Josephine
evening. They had sent a message asking us out to dinner on Friday and duly
arrived by car at 20h15 and joined us for ‘bubbles’ (‘Castello Del Diablo’ from
Chile – not nearly as good as I would have expected.) and then treated us to a
great dinner at the Royale Brasserie on the Grote Markt; Lynn in particular was
really wowed by her bouillabaisse and my pigs cheeks were also very good. On
the way back to Elle we popped into the oldest pub in Kortrijk, the Fonteyntje,
for 'pintjes' (a small [220ml] glass of house beer from the tap). I think we got
to bed at 02h00.
Thanks Guys, that was
brilliant and the next one is on us!
